Picture of a nurse walking through a hallwayThe focus of Nursing at UC is on patient-centredness and practice-based nursing care and management at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. the revised undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing course has been developed within a primary health care framework and pending accreditation, will be offered in 2013. the Bachelor of Nursing course articulates with the postgraduate nursing courses at UC which include advanced practice, health research, critical care, and mental health nursing. At UC there are approximately 400 students enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing course with approximately 50 postgraduate nursing students and an increasing number of higher degree research students. The Disciplines of Nursing and Midwifery have established strong links and partnerships with health care facilities in the ACT and region which ensures that the Nursing and Midwifery courses are evidence-based, clinically focused and contemporary.

The academics in the Disciplines of Nursing and Midwifery are highly motivated registered nurses, midwives and researchers, plus several staff members hold senior positions within the health industry and professional associations. Sessional staff members, highly skilled clinicians, are also employed to assist in providing research-led, practice-based nursing care in the patient simulation laboratories and lectures.
