Professional Community Days (PCDs)
Professional Community Days (PCDs) refer to a section of the Professional Experience Program that differs from supervised or mentored placements. PCDs offer a flexible way for preservice teachers to experience a wide range of educational settings and philosophies that characterise the teaching profession. PCDs are complementary to the professional experience program that focuses specifically on school-based teaching.
*Courses in which PCDs are applicable:
-
Bachelor of Education in Primary Teaching
-
Bachelor of Education in Secondary Teaching
-
Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Teaching 3 - 8
-
Graduate Diploma in Education in Secondary Teaching
*PCDs are only applicable to preservice teachers commencing their course in 2008. Continuing preservice teachers will not need to undertake the program.
The requirements and guidelines for PCDs are outlined in the Professional Community Days 2008 (PDF 57kb) booklet. This booklet will be provided to all new students at the first Semester 1 professional experience lecture. The booklet should be read in conjuction with the Professional Experience Manual/Guide appropriate for their course. The professional experience policy in the manual governs all professional experience including the PCDs.
