Our main undergraduate degrees are the Bachelor of Communication in Creative Writing and the Bachelor of Communication in Media/Multimedia Production, and the majority of the subjects taught by the School are therefore focused on those disciplinary areas. Both of these degrees provide the opportunity to specialise in terms of subjects, strands or projects. Creative Writing students cover a broad range of writing forms (described at greater length under Creative Writing, below) but may orient their professional careers toward a narrower range of those forms. Media students will specialise in either New Media (Multimedia) or Television Production, and within those sub-disciplines may also choose projects which will help to steer them toward more narrowly focused career paths. The School has strong majors in Literary Studies (a compulsory part of the Creative Writing degree) and Cultural Studies, an expanding and vibrant intellectual discipline which links areas of Communication with media and writing. A range of new majors, linking media production skills and creative writing subjects, were offered for the first time in 2005. Online Masters degrees are available in Creative Writing; postgraduate research degrees may generally be undertaken in any of the discipline areas covered by the School. Prospective students in these degrees should go to the Postgraduate Study page via the links at left. International Student Exchange ProgramThe University of Canberra has an International student exchange program that is open to students who are enrolled full-time at UC and have successfully completed 2 semesters of undergraduate study. Exchange partner universities and other details are available at the UC Study Abroad website. |
