Accommodation All hotels indicate that the best rate offered is the “government rate”, which conference participants can ask for. This, of course, does not necessarily apply to all available accommodation. Constantly changing “deals”, “what ifs”, etc indicate that the web now provides a host of options for anyone seeking accommodation. The following is offered as help, nothing more.        Old Parliament House is situated in the parliamentary triangle, across the lake from Canberra CBD. It is about 25 minutes walk from the Canberra Civic Centre depending on where you may be staying.  Maps indicating where accommodation is situated are not all that valuable in some cases. Accommodation in Canberra city is about 5-10 minutes away by taxi, and buses run frequently.        The suburbs around the parliamentary triangle are Manuka and Kingston – both equally distant from Old Parliament House. Accommodation in these suburbs will also vary in terms of walking accessibility to Old Parliament House. Manuka and Kingston have many restaurants and specialty shops.
