Overview of STCRCThe STCRC provides global leadership in strategic R & D to improve the sustainability of the tourism industry and maximise the economic, environmental and social benefits it delivers to Australia. The STCRC is responsible for the creation of knowledge, tools and innovation for both companies and communities engaging in the business of tourism, at the same time, developing new enterprises that spin off from STCRC's own intellectual property (IP). The STCRC is a partnership between universities, private industry and government in all states and territories of Australia. Networks at major universities in each state or territory underpin this nationwide structure, with linkages to the tourism commissions and industry organisations representing their respective regions. The STCRC was had its fifth year review in 2002 and received a further seven year term with funding for competitive grants from the Commonwealth Minister of Science totalling $26.7 million.
