Research Students

Overview and programs

There are a wide range of research training opportunities for students in the tourism field. Students are able to do either an Honours Degree in Philosophy (in a tourism topic), Masters by research, or a PhD in tourism or leisure studies.

Supervision is available in tourism events, interpretation, strategic planning in tourism, tourism marketing, tourism crisis and disaster planning and management, aboriginal tourism, sport and event tourism. Joint supervision is also available in cultural heritage tourism with staff in the cultural heritage management centre or nature based tourism/ecotourism with staff in the applied sciences area.

All potential research students are asked to contact the postgraduate convenor Dr Brent Ritchie in the first instance to discuss your application and research proposal.
