Abstract

The study aims to investigate the effects of partial privatization on SCP in the Indonesian commercial banking market and to investigate how the implementation of the public policy of partial privatization of Indonesian State-Owned Banks (SOBs) influenced the SCP of a segment of that market. In order to achieve this, a single case study methodology and a mix of qualitative and quatitative methods will be used.

The study will address a main research question of to what extent does partial privatization of SOBs affect SCP in an Indonesian commercial banking market segment and three sub-research questions of how was public policy on SOBs partial privatization carried out; how has SOBs partial privatization changed the segment market structure; and how have partially privatized SOBs performed.

Potential Implication for Policy Reform Or Management Practices:

Encourage regulators in issuing prudential regulations of entry requirement. This regulation will not only produce bank competition soundness but also create diversification.
