Government
The Government discipline includes academics in the fields of public administration and public management, public policy, politics and government. It offers one undergraduate program (Bachelor of Management) which is also offered as a double degree with either Law or Applied Economics. Double degrees with the Bachelor of Management are also available with Business Administration or Information Technology. The discipline convenes the Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) (677AA), a university wide generic research honours program. It also has a number of graduate programs in public administration and management, these are offered at graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters and doctoral levels. The professional doctorate in public administration (DPA) has proved to be a most popular program with senior public servants in particular.
The discipline is also involved in delivering tailored courses for particular public sector organisations, such as the partnership with the Child Support Agency to provide a graduate certificate in public administration through Professional Management Programs, the Division's commercial arm. It is also developing international links through teaching in China, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong and has been a major participant in planning public sector management education for the Kazakhstan public sector.
The majority of the academic staff in the discipline are active members of ANZSOG Institute for Governance.
