Majors and Minors

Selecting an Open Major for inclusion in your BGL degree

Most students commencing study in Bachelor degree qualifications offered by the Faculty of Business, Government & Law (BGL) in Semester 1 2012 (excluding students commencing double degrees, pursuing an accelerated degree structure or who have received credit for prior study towards their qualification) have the option of undertaking an open major of 18 credit points (typically 6 subject units of study) as part of their degree.

The following list includes some of the 70+ open majors currently available from the University of Canberra that are most suitable for inclusion with BGL courses. Please note that in many cases the unit sequence shown is only one of the possible sequences of study leading to the major. Please also remember that not all units are taught in all semesters so it’s important that students plan their entire sequence of study for both the core requirements of their course and for any optional open major they may wish to study.

The majors displayed below are shown in a unit sequence that is compatible with the “Typical course structure” for all BGL Bachelor degrees (other than the Bachelor of Laws) that can be viewed at the official UC Courses & Units website (http://www.canberra.edu.au/courses-units ).
