ABOUT THE COURSE

The tourism market has become more sophisticated. The need for well qualified and trained people in the sector has grown to meet dramatic changes in service levels in Australia and overseas. The Bachelor of Tourism Management prepares students for a career at the middle or senior level of the tourism industry and gives a balance of theory studies and practical expertise in a wide range of areas including sustainable tourism, development, culture and heritage tourism, visitor services management, and Pacific Rim tourism.

Students may complete an optional internship unit in the final year of study and most students also have the option to complete a semester of study at an international partner institution through the study abroad program. This program provides a strong degree of flexibility through the ability to choose an optional open major from more than 50 fields across all 7 faculties of the university.


LENGTH OF STUDY

The Bachelor of Tourism Management is typically studied over 3 years full time (or an equivalent period part time). Students commencing in Semester 1 have the option of completing a 2.5 year accelerated program through study in the optional winter term.


DOUBLE DEGREE OPTIONS

The Bachelor of Tourism Management can be combined with the Bachelors of Commerce, Sports Management, or Arts in International Studies or the Diploma of Languages (4 year programs).

The university also offers a wide range of double degrees combining the similar Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Tourism Management).
