ABOUT THE COURSE
In more than a century since federation, Australia's institutions of government and administration have developed a truly Australian flavour which distinguishes them from those of other developed Western democracies. This degree focuses on that Australian experience.
This degree will provide graduates with a strong understanding of the characteristics of Australian democracy, including the roles of key actors and institutions, both within and outside the formal structures of government.
Students may complete an optional internship unit in the final year of study and most students also have the option to complete a semester of study at an international partner institution through the study abroad program. This program provides a strong degree of flexibility through the ability to choose an optional open major from more than 50 fields across all 7 faculties of the university.
LENGTH OF STUDY
The Bachelor of Australian Politics & Public Policy is typically studied over 3 years full time (or an equivalent period part time). Students commencing in Semester 1 have the option of completing a 2.5 year accelerated program through study in the optional winter term.
DOUBLE DEGREE OPTIONS
The Bachelor of Australian Politics & Public Policy can be combined with the Undergraduate Diploma in Languages (Chinese, Japanese or Spanish) in a 4 year program.
The Bachelor of Politics & International Relations and the Bachelor of Management (majoring in Government & Politics) offer a number of double degree options.
