Bachelor of Applied Economics (943AA)
[Information for students seeking to commence study at the University of Canberra from Semester 1, 2012]
ABOUT THE COURSE
Economics is the predominant language in which public policy is written and analysed. Economists find employment in government, organisations which interact with the government was well as financial sector firms.
The course will provide the skills to critically examine major social issues confronting individuals and societies. Why does one country grow while another faces collapse? What should the government and Reserve Bank do? What are the best policies to respond to global warming?
Students may complete an optional internship unit in the final year of study and most students also have the option to complete a semester of study at an international partner institution through the study abroad program. This course provides a strong degree of flexibility through the ability to choose an optional open major from more than 50 fields across all 7 faculties of the university.
An Honours year is available for high performing students.
