Nicolette Bramley
Biography
Dr Nicolette Bramley is a Japanese lecturer in the Japanese Program, with a Masters in Japanese linguistics from Osaka University and a PhD in linguistics in conversation analysis from the ANU. She has taught extensively in and has a passion for teaching the Japanese language. In particular she loves introducing students to the delights of the world of Japanese and has received consistently outstanding positive feedback from her students for her fun, interactive teaching.
Dr Bramley has strong ties with the Japanese community and is currently the Vice-President of the ACT chapter of the Japanese Association of Language Teachers Australia and is a judge of the National Japan-Australia Essay Competition. She is also on the Editorial Board of the Qualitative Sociology Review.
Research
Dr Bramley has researched issues of identity, gender and language use in Australian political media interviews. In addition she has investigated issues in the teaching and learning of Japanese. Currently, she is researching issues of identity and attention getting in preschool children’s language and is involved in collaborative research into language, citizenship and identity with other cluster members. In addition she is investigating issues in the teaching and learning of Japanese.
