Auriol Weigold

Biography

In January 2004 Auriol Weigold was appointed Course Convenor and Lecturer in the
University of Canberra’s new BA International Studies. She had been a Visiting Research Fellow and part-time lecturer and tutor in the Division of Communication and Education since being awarded a PhD in Indo-British political history in 1997.

Auriol has Research Masters and Honours degrees, also in Indo-British fields from the Flinders University of South Australia in Adelaide. Auriol’s main area of recent work has been developing the first year and subsequent units of the BA International Studies. She also researches and writes about aspects of the Australia-India bilateral relationship, published frequently in Asian Analysis e-journal.

The Conference “Midnight to Millennium: Australia-India Interconnections” was organised by Auriol at the University of Canberra in 1999. Since then she has organised annual Australia-India Update Seminars in Canberra up to and including 2004. The 2008 India Seminar will be held at University of Canberra on 6-7 November, organised by Auriol jointly with ANU.

During 2006 and 2007, Auriol wrote Churchill, Roosevelt and India: Propaganda during World War II, published by Routledge, New York in September 2008.
