Nawal El Gack

Biography

Nawal originates from Sudan. Before joining the University of Canberra, she worked as a Lecturer at Massey University, New Zealand, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as supervising a wide range of thesis research projects. She has extensive experience working for NGOs, UNDP, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), and other development agencies in many countries.

Nawal has PhD in Development studies from Massey University, International Postgraduat Diploma from the University of Technology, Dresden, Germany and BSc (Forestry/Agriculture), MSc (Environmental Studies) from the University of Khartoum, Sudan. Her research interests include participatory and rural development, Indigenous knowledge, development in practice, microfinance and sustainable development.
