Bio: Stephen Barrass is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Design at the University of Canberra, where he chairs the Digital Design and Media Arts research cluster, supervises postgraduate students, and lectures in the Master of Digital Design and the Bachelor of Media Arts and Production. His research interests include digital design and fabrication, interactive storytelling, social media in creative collaboration, physical computing, immersive and wearable interfaces, data sonification, and sound art.

Bio: Sam Hinton is a senior lecturer in media and course convenor for the Media Arts and Production degree at the University of Canberra. He teaches units in introductory media production, motion graphics and 3D animation. This places him in the enviable position of being able to teach what he loves: using the computer as a creative tool. Sam's key academic interests include the sociological aspects of computer games and computer technologies, technical aspects of computer games, computer generated 3D graphics, the generation of procedural worlds and narratives, data visualisation (especially in relation to cultural materials), the philosophy and history of technology and network histories. Read more

 

Dr Ana Luisa Sanchez Laws

Bio: Dr Ana Luisa Sanchez Laws has a PhD in Media Studies from the University of Bergen, Norway. Her research deals with museum design and the impact of digitization upon material culture. She is interested in the ‘digital density’ of collections. Her practical work explores the use of a variety of digital technologies within museums.

 

Tim Thomas
Lecturer

Bio: Tim Thomas teaches Media Production in the Faculty of Design And Creative Practice at the University of Canberra and is a PhD candidate at the School of Art, at the Australian National University. He has worked extensively within the Film and Television industry undergoing on the job training as he worked his way through the camera department hierarchy. His research interests revolve around representations of space and objects.

Susan Thwaites
Assistant Professor

Bio: Assistant Professor Susan Thwaites is a trained as a cinematographer at the Australian Film Television and Radio School and has worked in the film industry shooting drama, music clips and documentary. Her PhD practice led thesis is on adaptation, where she is adapting a novel by Rodney Hall into a feature length screenplay.
