Anthony Eaton
Biography
Dr. Anthony Eaton has been writing professionally since the late -1990s, when his first book, The Darkness was published by the University of Queensland Press and went on to win the Western Australian Premiers Award for Young Adult Literature. Since then, hes written 11 novels for children, young adults, and adults, and his books have been recognised in a number of national and international awards.
His speculative fiction books The Darklands Trilogy have been both shortlisted and awarded in the Aurealis Awards for Australian Speculative Fiction, and his Young Adult Fiction novel Fireshadow was an Honour Book in the 2004 Childrens Book Council of Australia Book Of The Year Awards.
At the end of 2005, he received an Australian Antarctic Arts Fellowship, and travelled to Antarctica to research his novel Into White Silence which has gone on to receive critical acclaim, including a short-listing in the 2009 Childrens Book Council of Australia awards.
He completed his PhD at the University of Western Australia in 2006, his thesis research examined the reconstruction of adolescence as portrayed in contemporary Australian Young Adult fiction. He is currently furthering this research with investigation into the possible links between sociological research in to adolescence and literary portrayal of the adolescent and post-adolescent character.
He lectures in Creative Writing and Literary Studies at the University of Canberra.
