Dr. Julie Freeman
Postdoctoral Fellow in Communication 
Bio: Julie Freeman is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Faculty of Arts and Design at the University of Canberra. Her research interests include e-government, the broader policy contexts of government 2.0, digital democracy, public opinion, and civic participation. She is particularly interested in local e-government, having researching developments in Australia, the UK, the USA and Italy, and has tracked the impact of federal policies on local initiatives. Dr. Glen Fuller
Assistant Professor 
Bio: Glen Fuller’s research focuses on the relation between media and enthusiasm, histories of specialist magazines, contemporary developments in media technologies and media philosophies. He has written widely on enthusiasm, media philosophies, moral panics, complexity and social relations, and car culture. He is also interested in genealogical accounts of the relation between popular specialist or niche media and the enthusiast markets and scenes that they service. Read more

Dr Kerry McCallum
Associate Professor
Communication and Media Studies
Bio: Kerry McCallum’s research focuses on public opinion, media representation and policy development, particularly in the areas of Indigenous affairs and related social policy. As a member of the Public Communication Research Cluster, Kerry has been an investigator on several federally funded research collaborations is currently first Chief Investigator on the ARC Discovery Grant ‘Australian News Media and Indigenous Policymaking 1988-2008’. She holds a PhD and BA (Communication) from the University of Canberra. Read more
Professor Peter Putnis
Professor of Communication
Bio: Peter Putnis, Professor of Communication, specialises in communication and media history with a strong emphasis on the history of international news networks. He is interested in the role of technologies of communication, and the networks they enable, in social formation and historical change. He is currently Chief Investigator on the Australian Research Council funded project ‘Shaping the National Outlook: Overseas News in the Australian Press 1900-1950’. Read more

Michelle Dunne Breen
Teaching Fellow
Michelle Dunne Breen worked as a journalist for more than 20 years (in Australia, Britain and Ireland) before joining the Faculty of Arts and Design in 2011 as a Teaching Fellow in journalism and communications. Her PhD research is looking at how the Australian media dealt with the Northern Territory Emergency Response 2007, between announcement and enactment. Michelle began a Masters of Arts in Communication (Research) at the University of Canberra in 2010 and upgraded to the PhD program in 2011. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Sociology and German (Mod. Hons.) from the University of Dublin, Trinity College, in 1991.
Dr Sora Park

Bio: Sora Park’s research focuses on the digital media, media markets and media policy. She has written widely on the economics of television, newspaper markets and other information industries. She is also interested in media user patterns, migration and ethnic media and the international flow of media content. Read more
