Research News
Congratulations to Dianne Firth who received the Design Award for the Parliament House Childcare Garden.
Mitchell Whitelaw's Measuring Cup was featured at Inside Out, an exhibition in 2011 of digitally
fabricated miniature sculptures currently showing at Object gallery in Sydney. The Measuring Cup, a small form created from 150 years of Sydney temperature data, is a product of Dr Whitelaw's research in data visualisation, materiality and aesthetics. The form makes long-term changes in the environment literally tangible in a unique new way.
HDR Space
(360 degree view)
Work on a new space for Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students from the Faculty of Arts and Design is now complete in Building 20 on level B.
The new study centre will bring together research students enrolled in courses related to Arts and Humanities, Design and Jouralism, as well as Communications. The space will accommodate 33 full-time students. Each student will be allocated their own desk and personal storage space (below) for the duration of their studies.

The centre also features 10 hot-desk places for part-time and non-local students to use when they are on campus.
The space includes shared storage units which double as whiteboards for meetings and brainstorming (below).

The centre also provides spaces for meeting and relaxing. The round meeting lounge is lined with acoustic panelling designed to reduce noise and ensure privacy (below).
