Diploma of Design

This one year Diploma will develop the students’ knowledge and skills in creative thinking, visual communication, technology, 2D and 3D design and will focus on the investigation and development of design projects in a studio environment.

The Course         

The graduating students will have the ability to perform at a level of professional expertise that allows them confidently to enter and contribute to the design industry as assistant designers within the architecture, landscape, interior, graphic and industrial design fields leading to a career as a contributing team member in design studios or in retail, visual merchandising, etc.

Pathways    

This course will allow students with low ATAR score to study a generic design program which provides a clear pathway to a variety of bachelor degrees in the field of design.
Graduates will have direct entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, the Bachelor of Graphic Design, the Bachelor of Industrial Design, the Bachelor of Interior Architecture and the Bachelor of Landscape at the University of Canberra.

International Students 

International students, with 6 IELTS score, will be attracted to this program which, under the University of Canberra College banner, has a superior supervisory and guiding environment.

Admission       

Admission to the Diploma of Design is through portfolio interview.  This is a great opportunity for you to demonstrate your interest in design.  You will need to bring your portfolio to your interview. 
Portfolio & Interview          
It should be a visual representation of your design interests and consist of at least 5 examples of either work you have done or of work you admire. 
During the interview you will be asked to discuss each example.  Your portfolio samples can come from any design media such as architecture, fashion, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture, photography etc…
