About Facilities and Services

Hotlink to: Work Requests service for UC staff.

The Facilities and Services Unit of the University is responsible for related Capital and Minor works, Maintenance, Grounds, Security, Cleaning, Printing, Registry, Mail, Stores and Property, and UC Vehicles (the Car Pool).

These main areas of activity are listed on the menu on the left hand side of this page. Other topics are listed below.

Alternative Transport

The University is situated on both the express bus service route and the local route. The express service travels along College Street at the south end of Campus while the local service comes into the Campus and has two stops in each direction along Bimbimbie Street, also towards the south end of campus.

Car sharing is also an alternate means of coming to the University.

Bike paths cross the University. This should encourage the use of bicycles. Bike racks are installed around the Campus.

See the UC Online Transport Page and Interactive Central Campus Map for further information

Furniture

Furniture is not provided or repaired by Facilities and Services: however advice is often given.

Furniture and equipment removals are handled by Stores and Purchasing.

Parking

The University has approximately 2700 parking spaces for staff, students and visitors at no charge. All carparks are designated as shared pavements. This means both pedestrians and vehicles share the pavement with vehicles required to give way to pedestrians at all times in the shared zone. Parking signs are enforced by the ACT Government. Infringement notices are issued by ACT Parking Inspectors. The University is unable to intercede in the event of infringements being issued.

Road System

The internal road system has a speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour within the boundary of the Campus except near the Building 1 entrance where it is currently 10 kilometres per hour. These limits take into account the road construction and the number of pedestrians using the roads and pavements.

While the roads are within the boundary of the Campus the speed limit is enforceable by the Police of the ACT, infringements of parking and other traffic regulations are enforceable by both ACT Parking Officers and ACT Police. Please comply with the posted signage.
