University of Canberra Outstanding Scholars are high achieving school leavers studying their 1st undergraduate course full-time. Current school leavers with a raw ATAR of 95+ who have accepted an offer of a place in their first undergraduate degree at the University of Canberra will be invited to become University of Canberra Outstanding Scholars.
Outstanding Scholars will receive the following scholarships:
- Students with a raw ATAR of 95+ will receive the Chancellor's Scholarship for Academic Excellence, valued at $5,000 per year
- Students with a raw ATAR of 99+ will receive the University of Canberra Undergraduate Scholarship, valued at $8,000 per year
Students must maintain a credit average to retain their scholarship throughout their course (three years of full-time study or up to four years for a double degree).
Outstanding Scholars are also invited to participate in the Outstanding Scholars program, which aims to recognise and support high-achieving school leavers via the following:
A specialised information session
In addition to the University's Orientation Program, Outstanding Scholars will be invited to attend a specialised information session during semester 1 at which they will have the opportunity to meet senior staff members and hear more about the program.
Access to discipline, academic and research activities and workshops
Outstanding Scholars will have access to workshops, fora and activities that are normally only available to Higher Degree by Research students. Students are given access to the workshop program presented by the UC Graduate Research Office, as well as invited to participate in seminars and workshops within their faculty.
Outstanding Scholars are each provided with an academic staff mentor within their discipline. Their mentor will provide them with access to specialised programs within their faculty, as well as broadening their university experience.
