Our Centre

The Ngunnawal Centre was established in 1985 to function as a focal point for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at the University of Canberra and continues to provide a range of academic programs and pastoral support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The Centre delivers solution focussed assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to contribute to their academic success and career pathways. We are located in Room 13a, Level A at Building 5 on the Bruce campus of the University of Canberra.


Our purpose

is to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students achieve their academic goals by:

  • Providing pastoral support
  • Referring students to the broader University community
  • Liaison and follow up with the relevant referral areas
  • Providing access to information technology and study spaces
  • Facilitating the Indigenous Student Success Tutorial Program (previously ITAS)
  • Creating a culturally safe space
  • Informing students of professional opportunities for employment and to development their leadership skills

Our Centre
