In this unit students research the evolution of logo-design in the 20th century to contemporary practice. Students will create a logo design and apply it to a full identity system that spans both print and digital production methods. An understanding of contemporary branding, identity systems and how they are applied to a range of physical objects and digital technologies is covered with an emphasis on how identity systems are adapted globally.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit will, student will be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of contemporary branding and the role of the graphic designer;

2. Develop an identity system and generate a comprehensive identity style guide;

3. Adapt design solutions to multiple mediums;

4. Demonstrate expertise in graphic design technology; and

5. Conduct research and analysis, and clearly communicate a rationale for design decisions.
