Syllabus
This unit introduces students to fundamental principles of sound and screen production and post-production, including screen grammar and image/sound relationships. It introduces a range of specific techniques include microphone operation, location sound recording, video camera operation and sound and image editing. This conceptual and practical material is illustrated by case studies of a wide range of media practices, including film, television and digital media.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate a practical understanding of sound and video acquisition and editing;
2. Plan, develop and create media works using sound and video production;
3. Analyse and apply basic screen grammar and image/sound relationships; and
4. Critically reflect on their own creative choices and techniques and those of their peers.
