Syllabus

An integrative overview of the field of psychopathology, also known as abnormal psychology, will be provided. The subject will address the aetiological theories of psychopathology, as well as the epidemiological distribution, symptom presentation, course and prognosis of major psychological disorders. Specific focus will be given to the diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders, as well as the role of research in understanding the development, identification, prevention and intervention approaches within psychopathology. Students will be encouraged to consider the psychological disorders they study in the societal and cultural contexts within which they occur.
