If you’re a UC or TAFE Queensland staff member and have an undergraduate degree or sufficient professional experience from a partner institution, this course is an ideal platform to acknowledge and increase your skills in the area of designing, implementing and evaluating tertiary education learning activities.
You’ll undertake a range of self-organised applied learning activities relevant to your work or training context in: assessment; flexible learning environments; curriculum design; student engagement; and supervision, leadership and management. This unique and flexible course combines online, self-paced study with optional on-campus activities, allowing you to tailor your study pattern to your own personal and institutional needs.

Work Integrated Learning
This course has been developed with Work Integrated Learning (WIL) at its core. The content has been created by tertiary education professionals, and kept relevant and up-to-date through consistent monitoring of, and engagement with, the industry. You’ll undertake authentic tasks which are highly relevant to the day-to-day practice of education, dealing regularly with real-world problems, and will be expected to apply course learnings to your own educational employment context.

To qualify for the course, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be an academic staff member at UC or TAFE Queensland (full-time, part-time or sessional).
- Be a professional staff member at UC or TAFE Queensland and have a bachelor’s degree.
- Be a professional staff member at UC or TAFE Queensland and have relevant experience as approved by the course convener/Teaching and Learning.
Additionally, students would benefit from being concurrently employed in roles that involve teaching, teaching support, training, instruction, clinical supervision, or similar, as this will enable them to apply their learning in their specific work context and design and implement a work-based project. In cases where this is not possible, participants will be supported in planning and undertaking activities in a work-simulated context.

Information for Fee Paying Students
The fees detailed above are the annual fee rates for the course. Graduate Certificate courses are typically 0.5 years in duration, so the total course fee will be half the above for such courses.The annual rate is the fee that applies to standard full-time enrolment, which is 24 credit points. The final fee charged is based on the proportion of 24 credit points in which a student enrols. Students enrolled in a Commonwealth Support Place (CSP) are required to make a contribution towards the cost of their education, which is set by the Commonwealth Government. Students can enrol in this course to commence at any time. Students can undertake activities at their own pace and will determine their own approximate timeline for course completion. When students believe they have completed sufficient activities and can demonstrate their learning against the learning outcomes at AQF level 8, or can complete them within 12 months, they then enrol in the unit. Once they are enrolled they have 12 months to submit the final assessment task.
