Professional training to write and edit for any media

This course will enhance your editing skills to a professional standard across a number of media and contexts. 

Study our Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing (Editing) and you will:

  • absorb a high-level understanding of the structure and function of the publishing industry
  • develop both the conceptual and practical skills required to edit at a professional level
  • produce work in both print and electronic media.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent as approved by the University's Admissions Committee.

Additional Admission Requirements

Applicants are required to provide a portfolio of creative writing (3-4 pieces, in any genre or form). Applications will be judged on this portfolio in addition to other admission requirements.

Assumed Knowledge

Familiarity with the conventions of writing, including narrative structures, fiction and nonfiction forms, grammar and syntax, are an advantage; excellent use of written English is essential for work in this area. Applicants also need to be familiar with word processing and preferably with other computer programs, including web page design and desktop publishing programs.
