Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the rules relating to real property, their origin and current application; acquire and demonstrate an ability to apply the relevant rules and to predict their operation through the completion of set assigned tasks; demonstrate a familiarity with real property transactions and related documents; acquire and demonstrate legal research skills in relation to the relevant law and law proposals relating to real property; acquire and demonstrate an ability to analyse applicable policies underlying rules relating to real property; and acquire and demonstrate through the completion of set assigned tasks the abilities of critical analysis, advocacy, problem solving, legal writing, client presentation and communication.Syllabus
The areas examined include the concept of property; personal, intellectual and real; the law relating to ownership and transfer of interests in land; the system of land tenure including Torrens Title; the nature of equitable and legal estates in real property; methods of registration, acquisition and alienation of proprietary interests in land; and the transactions involved.Prerequisite
Completion of Legal Systems or equivalent. Entry to the LLB program.Class Contact
