    Learning Outcomes

    The learning goals of this subject are united around the theme of providing students with a theoretical and substantive foundation upon which to build their knowledge and ability to critique Australian domestic law and institutions, legal policy generally, international law and comparative legal systems.


    This subject sequentially develops a student's understanding of the theory and content of the law. The Concept of Law; The Civil Law and the Common Law Traditions; The Australian Federation; Comparative Constitutional Structures - a Brief Introduction; Sources of Law in the Australian Federation; Reception of English Law in Australia; The Law in Australia Today; The Legal Profession and the Practice of Law in Australia and Critical Perspectives on the Law.
