Introduction
This course provides a broad foundation for professional nursing practice and prepares students to practise as Registered Nurses. Graduates will be able to meet the nursing needs of people of all ages and have the ability to practise safely and with sensitivity in any area of nursing. Clinical nursing practice is an essential component of the course, enabling students to apply knowledge and skills from the theoretical subjects to the nursing care of individuals, families and groups in hospitals and community settings in the ACT and surrounding districts. Only students admitted to this course will be able to undertake those subjects involving clinical practice.Course Requirements

Course Duration
Standard six semesters full-time or equivalent part-time; Maximum 20 semestersAdmission Requirements
Applicants must have completed Year 12 or similar level of study and meet normal University requirements for admission to an undergraduate course. Applications are considered from Enrolled Nurses who may not have completed Year 12.
All students enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing course are required to undergo a Police Record Check prior to undertaking clinical experience. All students are also required to present an immunisation history.
Applicants who need to satisfy English language proficiency are required to have an overall Academic IELTS band score of 6.5, with no single band score less than 6.0.
Requirements for degree with Honours:
Students with an undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing degree with a high credit average (i.e. GPA of 5.00) or better may be eligible to enrol in the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) course.

Articulation arrangements are currently in place with the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT).Assumed Knowledge
ACT: Biology, Chemistry and Mathematical Methods majors.
NSW: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics.
Professional Recognition
This course is accredited with the ACT Nursing and Midwifery Board.
Students completing the Bachelor of Nursing 885AA are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Nurses with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. The Nursing and Midwifery Board defines the registration standards applicants need to meet to be registered, inclusive of English Language Skills Registration Standards. Students must refer to the Nursing and Midwifery site for more information about registration requirements www.nursingandmidwifery.gov.au before enrolling in the Bachelor of Nursing.
