Faculty of Arts and Design

This course will be open for new admissions in 2010 and 2011 for students currently enrolled in the CIT Advanced Diploma in Interior Design. Students who have already commenced their CIT Advanced Diploma in 2009 or earlier will be able to enter course 659AA and receive 48cp articulation, or enter the Bachelor of Interior Architecture with 36cp.

All other students should enroll in the Bachelor of Interior Architecture course.

Interior design requires an understanding of building construction, lighting, colour and furniture, as well as the ability to work with a range of professionals.

This program focuses as much on technical and design elements as it does on developing the organisational and interpersonal skills to be work-ready after you graduate. This degree is and articulated program of study offered by the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and the Faculty of Arts and Design at the University of Canberra. The Advanced Diploma in Interior Design is awarded after two years of full-time study at CIT. The degree is awarded after a further year of full-time study at UC. Completion of two years of architecture at the University of Canberra offers an alternate entry to the interior design program.
