This degree will teach you management and supervision techniques specific to the building industry while developing detailed knowledge about building processes and materials. Construction managers need to fully understand legal frameworks and the roles of various players within the industry, as well as being skilled with technology to manage their projects. These together with negotiation, presentation and communication skills, will be well honed during the course; and after two Industry Based Learning semesters of co-operative education in the construction industry you will know what the real world of building management is all about.

The course has developed pathways for Quantity Surveying (QS) along with potential double majors in accounting and sustainability and upon satisfactory completion it is envisaged that students will be able to achieve membership of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) and Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS).

This course allows students commencing standard full-time study in Semester 1 (together with part- time students) to select an optional ‘open major’ from a broad range of areas within the University. Further information open majors and how to include these in this course can be found at http://www.canberra.edu.au/faculties/business/attachments/pdf/Open-Major-Sequences-2012.pdf
