Course Requirements

24 credit points comprising:

(a) Required (12 credit points) as follows:
7847 Excise PG
6342 Regulatory Compliance Management PG

(b) Restricted choice (12 credit points) as follows:
6338 Legal Research Project PG
7849 Alcohol Taxation PG
8042 Environmental Taxation PG
7848 Fuel Taxation PG
7851 Tobacco Taxation PG
7853 Regulation of Offshore Petroleum Operations PG
or other 3 credit point PG level units(s) as approved by the Course Convener.

Course Duration

Standard: 2 semesters. Maximum 8 semesters.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the course is open to graduates in any discipline. Applicants are normally expected to have achieved a credit average in their undergraduate course, and to have a minimum of two years work experience in excise, customs, taxation or a related area. International applicants must satisfy the University of their competence in English by means of an IELTS score of 6.5 or more.

Advanced standing:
There are no special advanced standing requirements.

Students undertaking postgraduate courses in the Law School may apply to do one or more electives from the program.

Subsumable awards

The Graduate Certificate in Excise Studies is subsumable within the Graduate Diploma in Excise Studies. Articulation to the Master of International Customs Law and Administration may be sought at a future date.
