Bachelor of Cultural Heritage

This course is concerned with understanding cultural heritage in its many forms. Emphasis is placed on identifying, interpreting, managing, conserving and explaining cultural heritage across the spectrum.

It includes

  • famous World Heritage sites and museum collections,
  • cultural landscapes,
  • historic buildings,
  • lost treasures,
  • underwater heritage,
  • indigenous heritage,
  • intangible heritage and
  • cultural practices

Cultural Heritage is carried in memory, story, song, dance, music, books, paintings, buildings, film, forests, photographs, fashion, food and everything in the three kingdoms, animal vegetable, mineral.

It is an international movement and a multi-trillion dollar global industry. It is a way to understand history and ourselves.

Within it are many professions:

  • the curator,
  • conservator,
  • historian,
  • teacher,
  • guide,
  • detective,
  • scientist,
  • artisan,
  • lawyer,

and literally the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker.

This course is designed for the intellectually curious and those who want an interesting career.
