Master of Business Informatics (845AA)
Faculty of Information Sciences
This is an interdisciplinary course that explore the interface between business and IT. They consider innovative approaches to dealing with complex IT problems in organisations. The courses develop information professionals, in particular business analysts, who can mediate between business units and IT. This mediation requires an understanding of organisations on the one hand and the capabilities and limitations of information technology on the other. Graduates will understand the intent and context of organisational systems. They will address issues of work practice and information needs beyond purely IT-based solutions. They will understand people and organisations, including impacts of actions on the business as a whole and interactions between people rather than just interfaces to computer-based systems.
The course has provisional accreditation with the Australian Computer Society at the professional level. Students successfully completing the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Business Informatics may seek admission to the masters course.
