Graduate Diploma in Psychological Science (141JA)
Faculty of Health
This course is designed for students from disciplines other than psychology who are interested in pursuing psychology as a career. Since a four-year qualification accredited by Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) is required for registration to practice as a psychologist, students have previously had to complete an entire new undergraduate degree in psychology to be eligible for entry to an accredited fourth year program. This course provides the required background in accredited undergraduate psychology for eligibility to entry to fourth year psychology courses.
Applicants must meet the normal University admission requirements, i.e., a university degree or other qualification or combination of qualifications deemed to be equivalent to a degree by the University's Admissions Committee. In addition, applicants must have satisfactorily completed one of the following three units: Psychology 101, Psychology 102 and Introduction to Psychological Research (or equivalent) in units or courses accredited by APAC.
