Master of Creative Writing
The Master of Creative Writing course is a post-professional further education course. Designed to enable students to acquire knowledge and skills they can apply in a creative-professional area, it has a specialisation in writing for the electronic domain. Graduates will develop skills in creative writing, and will also refine their understanding of the theoretical and cultural underpinnings of representation and narrative. The skills and knowledge offered by the course – high level writing skills and creative ability – are highly desired by employers in such fields as publishing and editing; government, corporate and private businesses; educational institutions; information management organisations; consulting firms; and electronic commerce companies.

Master of Internet Communication
This course is designed for information and communication professionals and managers who are responsible for the design, creation and ongoing management of an organisation’s online environment. If you are looking for a leadership role in an organisation that is keen to use the internet to further its business communication, this course will provide you with the right blend of practical and theoretical knowledge. Some areas of study include: web information architecture, content management, web standards and policy, search engine optimisation, use of web 2.0, and writing for the web. Areas of elective study include Knowledge Management and Marketing Communication.

The Master of Knowledge Management prepares graduates for management and other leadership roles in knowledge-aware organisations. It is highly practical, but has a strong theoretical underpinning and covers cultural, technological and information management issues. As graduates of this course you will have a better understanding of the synergies between organization culture, human factors and technologies involved in the management of knowledge.

Master of International Customs Law and Administration
This course, part of the only international customs and excise education program in Australia, provides the necessary skills and knowledge to help organisations meet the demands of today’s global economy. The units draw on the latest theory and practice in international trade, customs and excise management, and the University’s ongoing research activities ensure that it reflects contemporary and emerging issues impacting on the international trading environment, and more specifically, on the business of customs. The course includes significant legal content, but does not require pre-existing legal qualifications or experience.

Master of Forensic Studies
The Master of Forensic Studies provides a critical understanding and knowledge of the investigative and analytical concepts that apply to specific areas of forensic science. The course structure has been designed to permit a wide choice of units that enable students to tailor an education program relevant to their chosen forensic specialisation and career objectives. Online units are available in areas such as chemical criminalistics, environmental forensic science, forensic toxicology, forensic medicine, medicinal chemistry, DNA analysis, forensic statistics, law, and information management. While particularly relevant for students already in the workforce and seeking education to assist in promotion opportunities, the course is also available to professionals from non-forensic backgrounds who wish to gain a qualification in this field. The Forensic Studies area at the University of Canberra is led by Professor Chris Lennard, formerly of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and a scientist who has been involved in a number of the AFP’s high profile forensic investigations, including the 2002 Bali bombings and the inquest into the Royal Canberra Hospital implosion
