This degree offers students an opportunity to undertake a professional qualification in Journalism while gaining intercultural skills and knowledge.

The International Studies degree investigates the interplay of cultural, political and economic forces in regional and global arenas and allows students to develop an understanding of intercultural communication. This is enhanced by foreign language study and a highly recommended international exchange semester.

The degree course in Journalism combines communication and media studies with training to professional standards in journalism. Students study both print and broadcast journalism with the option to specialise in the medium of their choice at third year level.

Careers

Graduates will be well positioned to work as members of the diplomatic corps and foreign correspondents.

Graduates also find employment within government agencies, newspapers, radio, television, magazines, and in new media. Large organizations also employ graduates in information positions or as media liaison officers.
