Units (Subjects)
UC-CONNECT has three strands (subjects). These are
- Humanities
- Analytical Methods
- Academic Techniques
Humanities
The Humanities strand prepares students for the content, style and subject matter of academic teaching and thinking. It introduces students to a range of philosophies, ideas, concepts and topics found in most university courses. It develops the conceptual and critical thinking skills you need to interpret lectures, to participate in tutorials and to complete assessment tasks.
Analytical Methods
Analytical Methods aims to develop students' analytical thinking skills & their confidence and competence in solving mathematical problems. Analytical Methods provides students with the opportunity to work on a research project in which they learn to collect, organise, display and analyse information and data.
Academic Techniques
Academic Techniques aims to prepare students for university. Academic Techniques teaches and provides practice in the practical skills that students need to comply with university standards and expectations. The course covers skills that are essential in an academic environment e.g. research skills, academic writing skills, presentation skills, group work and examination skills.
