Schools & Community Centre

A literacy research and teaching centre concerned with the development and implementation of effective literacy support programs.

The Schools & Community Centre uses the ‘Scaffolding Literacy’ approach to literacy learning and its programs focus particularly on developing effective literacy interventions for children at risk of failing to develop age-appropriate literacy skills.

The Schools & Community Centre works with both parents and teachers. Through its Parents as Tutors program, the centre provides an intensive literacy intervention for children who are failing to develop age-appropriate literacy abilities. This program works with both children and their parents/carers.

The Schools & Community Centre has an active research and teaching program.
