Biography

Gordon Waddington  received his BAppSc.(Physiotherapy) degree from the Cumberland College of Health Sciences and his Ph.D. from the University of Sydney.  His specialist research interests in health science are in motor control of the lower limb in the context of injury prevention in sports and in the elderly faller and he has published in high impact journals in this area.

His other significant research interest is in the area of Health Services Research. Evaluating the impact of workforce flexibility on the quality and accessibility of care for older people in the community, the key factors associated with health workforce flexibility in older peoples’ services and understanding the extent of workforce flexibility in older peoples’ services in Australia in comparison with other health systems.

Gordon has a background of over 17 years in clinical physiotherapy. Prior to commencing at the University of Canberra, Gordon was responsible for the development of The University of Sydney School of Physiotherapy Research Centre at the Canberra Hospital. At the University of Canberra he has been responsible for writing and developing the graduate entry physiotherapy program. As part of this process he has been responsible for ensuring the program’s compliance with the Australian Council of Physiotherapy Regulatory Authorities Accreditation Program.
