About Us

The National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM), is a major research centre within the University of Canberra. It has an international reputation as a centre of excellence for analysing microdata and constructing microsimulation models.

This reputation reflects NATSEM’s ongoing contributions to social and economic policy debate and analysis in Australia, and its success in developing models of the highest quality and undertaking independent and impartial research, both in Australia and internationally.

NATSEM has been an active research centre since 1993. It supports its activities through research grants, commissioned research and contracts for model development and maintenance.

Our researchers have a strong record of success in winning competitive grants through the Australian Research Council, the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Australian Housing Research Institute.

Our research partners on grants and our clients who directly commission research include federal and state government agencies, major commercial companies and community groups.
