Profile:
Riyana (Mira) Miranti is a socio-economist who has been working at NATSEM since October 2007. She has a strong research interest focusing on areas of poverty and disadvantage, inequality and gender. She is currently working with Children and Families team within the Social Inclusion and Small Area Modeling (SISAM) team. She has worked on various research projects including children with jobless parents, poverty by family type and older Australian well-being and disadvantage under several ARC grants with a particular focus on small area analysis.
Previously, she had worked extensively in the area of economic development for Southeast Asia and particularly for Indonesia. She worked for two and a half years as a research associate at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore. Riyana’s doctoral work focused on the relationship between regional development and poverty in Indonesia.
She also worked extensively as a tutor and research assistant at the National University of Singapore (2000), the School of Economics at ANU (2007) and the Division of Economics at the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies (RSPAS) at ANU (2007).
