Research Interests:
Population ageing and chronic health conditions, lifetime health and socio-economic outcomes, spatial microsimulation , small area estimates, mortality, HIV/AIDS.
Profile:
Binod has developed interests in health demography and social inequality. He holds a PhD in Demography from the Australian National University (ANU) and is now working as a Research Fellow at the National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM), University of Canberra.
His recent research works include: application of life table techniques for estimating lifetime health and economic outcomes; application of microsimulation methods for small area estimates of housing affordability and income poverty; and modelling the impact of behaviour change on the dementia epidemic. He has interest in international health, particularly in HIV/AIDS in Asia.
He was a PhD scholar at the Australian Demographic and Social Research Institute, the Australian National University, between April 2004 and February 2007. Prior to that, he worked as a program/research associate at the Centre for Research on Environmental, Health and Population Activities (CREHPA), Kathmandu.
