Phil Lewis

Professor of Economics

Phil LewisProfessor Phil Lewis is the Canberra Director of the Centre for Labour Market Research. He is also Professor of Economics at the University of Canberra. Phil is among the best-known economists in the area of employment, education and training in Australia. He is the author of over 80 books, book chapters and journal articles including the well-known book: Issues, Indicators and Ideas published by Addison-Wesley, now in its 3rd edition.

He is on the editorial board of The Australian Journal of Labour Economics and Economic Analysis and Policy and previously Labour Economics and Productivity. Apart from a distinguished academic career he has worked in government and has produced a number of major reports for the private and public sectors. He is past National President of The Economic Society of Australia and current President of the Canberra Branch of the Society.
