Lifelong Learning

Lifelong learning logoThe Lifelong Learning Network, University of Canberra, was established in December 1998 to undertake policy research in all areas of education and training. The Network undertakes research on policy issues in the four sectors of schooling, vocational education and training (VET), higher education (HE) and adult community education (ACE), as well as early childhood education and care (ECEC). In particular, the Network focuses on cross-sectoral policy issues - ie. research that is relevant to more than one sector. In 2004 the Lifelong Learning Network became part of the new Australian Institute for Sustainable Communities at the University of Canberra.

The Lifelong Learning Network was established to address a perceived gap in research on the interface between the sectors in education and training policy. The Network fills that gap through its research program, consultancy work, conferences, and Publications

The research activities of the Lifelong Learning Network encompass:

  • Cross-sectoral policy issues
  • The changing nature of work
  • Lifelong learning
  • Early intervention
  • Student pathways in post-compulsory education and training
  • The quality of teaching and learning
