Postgraduate research support

The Institute for Applied Ecology hosts postgraduate students enrolled in PhD and Masters degrees by research, as well as Honours students. Support for postgraduate students by research includes physical amenities and funding and structured training. Additionally, the IAE offers a PhD scholarship (the Norris Postgraduate Research Scholarship) with stipend of $25,000 per annum (plus tuition fees for international candidates).

Additional research student support

  • Research grant for student research projects – $6,000 per annum (full-time) PhD and Masters students, $2,000 Honours students.
  • Conference funding up to $2,500.
  • A laptop or desktop computer and an ergonomic workstation.
  • Mentoring programs with access to the University's Research Education Program.
  • A weekly research Forum for short presentations and discussion sessions.
  • An annual research symposium, where postgraduate students can present the progress of their research.
  • Excellent supervision by a panel of senior researchers.
  • Field equipment and a subsidised vehicle pool for field work.
