About CBCS

Operation

CBCS’s vision is to establish a centre of excellence in fields of biological and chemical sciences including, biological chemistry, environmental chemistry, public health, pharmaceutical science, virology, cell biology, immunology, forensic science, cancer immunotherapy, bioinformatics and science communication.

This goal can only be achieved by increasing the number of experienced researchers and enhancing the value of research. The first concept is to develop linkage. Because researchers are widely distributed around campus, the state, the nation and the world, there is often a lack of critical mass at a single site. Thus, it is important to build research capacity across disciplines that will involve linkage. An example is to link new and expert researchers having commonalities, and to form research networks involving researchers from other disciplines, centres, and academic institutions.

CBCS’s research themes are:

Fingerprint
  • Understanding and providing treatments for diseases like cancer and arthritis
  • Understanding the pathogenesis of viral infections in asthma exacerbation
  • Understanding the pathogenesis of bacterial infections
  • Understanding functions of interferon-induced proteins in viral infections
  • Understanding the role of proteins in drug metabolism
  • Using bioinformatics in disease predictions and diagnostics
  • Improving cell mobilisation in stem cell research
  • Discovering and implementing novel approaches in forensic analyses
  • Discovering novel compounds for the treatment of diseases (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, infectious arthritis, cancer)
  • Analyses of trace metals in water and its impact on human health
  • Discovering novel drug delivery systems
  • Improving science communication in research
