What is the Canberra Award?

The Canberra Award is a certificate of the University of Canberra awarded to students at graduation. It acknowledges those students who undertake an active program of personal development over the course of their university studies. It focuses on the development of transferable skills gained through academic work, work experience paid or voluntary, participation in community activities and completing work-related short courses. It operates alongside, but separate from, degree programs and participation is voluntary.

Completing the Canberra Award was a very valuable experience as it encouraged me to undertake a wide range of extra-curricular activities in addition to work and study. I feel that I'm more well rounded as a result and this has been really important when applying for jobs, particularly graduate positions. The program has strongly contributed to my personal and professional development, giving me the confidence to meet challenges in the workplace and make the most of opportunities as they arise.
